BSNL Teams With RIM To Launch BlackBerry Mobile Phone Services In India

There is a good news for BlackBerry Mobile Phone users In India. The state owned telecom operator BSNL and Canadian Research In Motion (RIM) have launched BlackBerry services in the country.

It is estimated that there are around 1,30,000 Blackberry users in India. Moreover, with more and more operators jumping into the BlackBerry and 3G bandwagon, this number is bound to increase.

Almost every telecom operator like Vodafone, Bharti Airtel has launched BlackBerry services because of high demand for the magical Blackberry instrument in India.

The BlackBerry was introduced in 1999 as wireless handheld device working as a two-way pager. Later, in 2002, BlackBerry was released by RIM in its present smartphone avatar. It is a smart device which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services as well as a multi-touch interface. It is a perfect example of a convergent device.

Let us see whether launch of BlackBerry services by India's largest telecom operator brings the kind of revolution in moblie arena like it has elsewhere.
