Samsung Launches Online Movie Store On The Lines Of Apple iTunes

Samsung Movies
Samsung Mobile together with Acetrax has launched an online movie store, Samsung Movies, exclusively for Samsung mobile phone users. This store will allow customers to download and watch their favourite movies and TV shows anytime, anywhere on compatible Samsung phones, laptops or PCs.

The store offers over 500 titles including The Dark Knight, RocknRolla and Ironman from famous studios like Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal and Momentum Pictures. What is more, it also allows to download and view TV series, including Gossip Girl, E.R. and Friends on video enabled Samsung phones such as the new Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition. This move reminds me of the wildly popular iTunes although Samsung has to go a long way to compete with Apple.

Acetrax is a digital movie retailer that has agreements with major movie studios as well as Independents and record labels. Its platform enables various brands across Europe to provide their own personalized movie download service on PCs, mobile devices and IP-enabled TVs.

Samsung seems to expand aggressively as there are plans to add further 500 titles will by the end of the first quarter of 2009, followed by an additional 1,000 movies and TV shows by the end of June 2009. Moreover, the company intends to expand this service to more devices like notebooks, mp3 and mp4 players and Samsung TVs. Samsung Movies start from £2.49 for 24 hour rental or from £4.99 to own. Initially, this service will be available in the UK and Germany and later expanded to other European markets.
