BSNL 3G Data Card Complete Information, Review, Tariff Plans

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state owned telecom operator has brought 3G internet broadband services to India. 3G broadband offers highest surfing speed available in the country. Using 3G users will be able to access world wide web at the speed of around 1.8 Mbps. This services is being made available around the country using 3G data cards.

What type of BSNL 3G data cards are there ?
These data cards come in two flavours. You can go for either USB Type card or Express/PCMCIA card. USB is considered better in every aspect because of its portability. You can easily share the same internet connection between your laptop and PC. The types of 3G data cards available are Merlin X950D Express Card, Merlin XU870 Express Card, Option Globe Trotter Express 7.2, Option Globe Trotter Express HSUPA and Sierra Wireless Air Card 880E.

What are the BSNL 3G tariff plans ?
The tariff plans can be broadly divided in three categories.Trial pack, limited usage plans and unlimited usage plans.

Trial Pack comes with two plans. A 50 MB plan at Rs 60 and a 100 MB plan at Rs 120. Both plans have 15 days validity.

Limited usage tariff plans are as below :
- Rs 250 for 300 MB free download.
- Rs 400 for 1 GB of free download.
- Rs 650 for 2 GB of free download.
- Rs 1,000 for 5 GB of free download.

These plans have 30 day validity and any additional download will be charged at Rs 2/MB.

For those who are addicted to net or use web extensively, there is a unlimited usage tariff plan too. This plan costs Rs 3,000/month with unlimited data transfer.

BSNL has taken up 3G in a big way. Recently, BSNL launched BlackBerry mobile services in India. With the advent of 3G high speed internet will become a reality. After BSNL/MTNL many private players are also on their way to relase their 3G plans once they are allotted spectrum.
