Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state owned telecom operator has recently announced to launch the BlackBerry 3G services in India. The move is very significant as it marks the 3G in India finally taking off. BSNL will offer many models, BlackBerry Bold being one of them.
This model was launched last year (2008) by its manufacturing company RIM. The handset was RIM’s first smartphone to support HSDPA which is a very high speed data network. BlackBerry Bold is considered a direct competitor to iPhone by many due to its advanced features. For one, the cellphone is equipped with the 624-MHz processor which is very fast for most of the tasks that one needs to accomplish on a smartphone. Its brilliant LCD display comes with a resolution 480 x 320 pixel 65,000 color display. More features are as below :
1. The smart device has 3.5mm stereo headset, integrated earpiece/ microphone and built-in speakerphone.
2. Talk time of up to 4.5 hours and standby time of up to 13.5 days.
3. Dimensions are 48"X 2.6" X 0.59" (114mm X 66mm X 15mm ) and weight is 4.8 oz (136g).
4. Full QWERTY keyboard and trackball navigation.
5. Memory 1GB On-board + 128 MB Flash, Expandable though MicroSD slot.
6. Integrated Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 with full A2DP support and built-in GPS (enhanced and assisted).
7. Supports Full HTML browser, BlackBerry maps, Instant Messaging and email. Desktop-style Web pages. Its trackball mimics a mouse, making ‘Page View’ or ‘Column View’ or zooming-in on specific parts of a Web page a breeze. There are emulation settings provided to allow users choose between the full desktop-style HTML content and layout or mobile version.
The only thing that sets it behind its competitors is its 2.0 megapixel camera as people will certainly expect more lens power in a costly phone like this. At the end of the day, BlackBerry Bold is the ultimate cellphone to have.
